Any city subway rider can tell you that they'd much rather take the escalator than the stairs when exiting the station [see: porter square t station]. In saying this, Volkswagen's latest ad campaign proves that just by making something more 'fun', more people will use it. I would totally use the stairs if this was in the states!! Ok, maybe not Porter Square still...there aren't enough keys for that shit.

Flash Mob Done Right

Guys, I'm actually crying.

Here's an amazing video of a flash mob that took place at the Prudentential Center in my 2nd hometown of Boston. Except this flash mob turned into a wedding. A WEDDING. IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PRU. amazing. amazing!

Where The Wild Things Are

A little delayed, but here is a brilliant picture of the Wild Things on the D Line in Boston. This makes me miss the T a lot. Last year on Halloween, I was on the T with someone who was dressed as Moses (on the other side of me was Sweeney Todd) and his crazy cat lady girlfriend. We got to Coolidge Corner and he said "Ah yes, Brookline. This is where all my people are." For those not familiar with the culture geography of Boston, Brookline is home to a lot of Jews. Amazing. This year's Halloween did not compare to riding the T with everyone in their redic costumes. Plus ten Boston. Plus ten.

Mad Men Mania

I loves me some Mad Men. The secrets, the adultery, the random offing of appendages. More importantly, I loves me some Jon Hamm. So when they say 'imitation is the highest form of flattery,' take that into account when watching these videos.

Like night and day, these two Mad Men parodies are clearly for two different demographics, but still cater to the common denominator, which is Mad Men fans like myself, and possibly you, the IAYN reader.

The first is a tame, kid friendly version featured on Sesame Street. I heard about this a while ago, and couldn't figure out how they were going to pull off the show sans sex, smoking, drinking, and adult themes. But alas, Big Bird pulled it off, and here we have Mad Men: Sesame Street style.

Adventures in Boston

In May, Devin and I went out and about in the city like any other day.

On a whim, we decided to go to the Boston Public Library. Now the last time I was there was probably 2005, when I was forced to go for one of my writing classes and get a library card. 4 years later, expired library card in tow, I found myself being lead into a whole different library than the one I knew.



AKA, Devin led me into the other entrance and it was a magical trip into a completely different BPL than I knew. It was like we apparated into an ancient European building, and all of a sudden I turned into a tourist in my own city!

So we ended up finding this room, and it reminded us of the library in Beauty & the Beast/a classroom in Hogwarts. And being as cool as we are, this happened.

I love finding new things in the city. Go out and explore what you pass by every day!
You might just find a secret Europe of your own!
