Lady Antebellum Stakeout: 2010

A few weeks ago, I was sitting on our balcony, perusing ONTD and listening to some tunes. Through my headphones, I could hear really loud music playing. I thought to myself, 'WHO IS PLAYING THEIR MUSIC SO DARN LOUD??' (Apparently Los Angeles has made me into one of those 80 year old blue-haired women at the Lyric who need hearing devices for the front row, or Mr. Heckles from 'Friends') I took my headphones off and heard someone yell 'PLAYBACK!', after which what seemed to be the makings of a country song start playing. Thanks to my excellent detective skills - and ability to google lyrics at a moment's notice - i discovered that the song playing was entitled 'Our Kind of Love' by Lady Antebellum!

Naturally, I then proceeded to freak the eff out, as Lady Antebellum was shooting a music video near my apartment!! I figured out that they were filming across the street, in what we here like to refer to as 'the place where toys go to die.'

When we first moved here, we always wondered what that lot with abandoned toys' purpose was, if there were any episodes of 'Are You Afraid of the Dark' filmed there, and why it was only filled with Little Tikes cars and those mini carousels you find in the middle of the mall (child pictured is NOT me). Apparently, the only time anyone ever goes in there now is to film Lady Antebellum videos.

Being the creeper that I am, I took this picture:


If you look closely, you can see the bright lights on set. But because I wasn't satisfied with this, I went over there to get a closer look. I tried taking a video through the fence, but even that's too creepy to put on the internetz.

Ryan finally got home, and I informed him of the exciting action that was taking place across the street, so we again went over there to investigate. Maybe they needed some extras, right? Well, we walked all around the perimeter of the lot, found the entrance, and even found all the trailers and kraft service truck too! We managed to see Charles and Hilary filming through the fence, which was pretty cool, but thought some of the crew could see us, so we didn't take any pix :( So we walked back to our apartment, a little defeated, yet still interested in what was going on, so we stood on our balcony for a while and watched from there. I took the following video (no need to watch the entire thing, unless you have absolutely have nothing better to do, like me) :




Basically, I spent about 3 hours of my Sunday afternoon stalking Lady Antebellum. I thought it was a good 3 hours well spent. So what does the finished product look like? Well here it is, the video for "Our Kind of Love". Just imagine me across from this toy lot standing on our balcony chairs trying to get a better look. It's just more fun that way.
