Another Decade Older

If you don't feel old yet, you will when you watch this video. I just can't believe these kids were born in the year 2000. I actually remember most of that year. Scary.

4 Year Old Logic

My four year old son walked up to me yesterday while I was setting the table for dinner.

"Uhm" he asked hesitangly"Is it too late to add things to my Christmas list?"

"I think so," I said, eyeing the three feet of snow piled up outside the window.

"OK," he said resignedly and then looked out past me, deep in thought. "Dad can we run out to the store and buy a whip?"

"Why?" I asked.

"Uhm. I put a lion on my Christmas list but I forgot to put down a whip. And if the lion shows up and I don't have a whip we could all be in trouble."

"Oh," I said because I couldn't think of what else to say to his perfectly logical question.

Fair enough.

Out of Character

Empire Magazine recently did a spread recreating famous movies throughout the past few years. The cool thing is that they did it with some of the main characters, sans costumes, but with a simple prop or set. Pretty cool. They should have done Titanic. Then it would be complete.

But Arnold is the best.

Swing, Swing

Ah if only life could be like this.

I Don't Know Who To Believe

Why is This Under the Real Estate Classifieds?

Remember that time I passed by Malcolm Jamal-Warner at LAX? Yeah, I should have screamed this at him.

This Never Happens at the Yankee Swaps I Go To

So i was searching for a scene from an episode of "The Office" where they did Secret Santa, but Michael wasn't satisfied with his gift, so he decided to turn it into a Yankee Swap instead. Hilarity ensues. Anyways, whilst searching for Dwight, I came across this gem of a yankee swap video. (SPOILER ALERT: PROPOSAL INCLUDED!)

Talk about the pony express. It's like Google Version -3.0.

Late For A Very Important Date

AZNs Don't Work At Fox

So apparently all 193% of Republicans support Palin, Romney, and Huckabee. Looks like a close race in 2012. Gonna have to keep all 8 of my eyes on this one.

I mean, you should probably just listen to Carrie's new CD, "Play On", in its entirety, because it's great. This is my favorite track off her new album!

Progress

Today, I proposed to my girlfriend of four years in a nice restaurant. When she said yes, the entire restaurant stood up and applauded.

We're both women.

Understanding of true love GMH (Gives Me Hope).

Mistaken Identity

This is Cory Monteith from the popular hit show, 'Glee.' Although he plays the not so sharp Finn on the show, he's actually a sneaky little devil IRL. Here he is captured by TMZ (ew) when some "fans" come up to him. Whatever happened to Chris Klein??

Remix to Ignition

I must say, this is pretty brilliant. Basically, you're reading your favorite magazine (Vogue, J-14, Playboy - for the articles, etc.) and you come across an ad with a paper thin key with a usb device on it. So say you see this car ad, and you punch out the faux key, plug it into your usb drive on your computer, and it will automatically take you to this car company's website! Haven't come across one yet, but I'm dying to try it. I wonder how effective this ad actually is...

No Post-Its Necessary

I can't tell you how many times I've sat at the table after a meal with friends and tried to figure out how much each person is paying. One time, my friends and I literally sat there doing 'math' for approx 30 minutes before figuring out how to split the bill. I'm sure you all can relate. Henceforth, this device needs to be at every establishment in the United States STAT.

Created by some Azns (of course), this gadget lets each person pay for what they ate via credit card. See diagram below.

That Is The Ugliest Effing Skirt I've Ever Seen

My home state of New York was quite a disappointment to, well, anyone in their right mind, this week after voting down the gay marriage bill in the senate this week. (PS if you haven't seen this video of Senator Diane Savino speaking on marriage equality yet, DO IT) But fellow upstater Chris Pesto of Syracuse University gained a gold star, plus ten points and two thumbs up for his message to anti-gay protesters on campus. WTG.

Winter Wonderland

Ah, the wintery month of December is finally upon us. Snow falling to the ground, sipping a peppermint mocha from a red Starbucks cup, and hearing Christmas music being overplayed everywhere you go. Alas, my 'winter' has consisted of everything about that but the snow. The east coast girl in me misses it a lot, which is something I sort of expected when I moved out here, but it's funny how just the weather can change your disposition on seasonal traditions. This is exactly why I want there to be snow waiting for me when I land in Rochester in December, or else there will be hell to pay.

To get into the spirit, we're attempting to make our apartment as Christmas-y & winter-y as possible, and hopefully the 99 Cent Store can help us out with that (Pix to follow). Meanwhile, I''m watching this video over and over again to make my east coast heart just a bit warmer.

PS: Follow my love Sarah's blog [Time You Enjoy Wasting] !!! It's fab and has awesome stuff about her upcoming wedding!! EEEEE CANNOT WAIT FOR THAT PARTY!!!

Where The Wild Things Are

A little delayed, but here is a brilliant picture of the Wild Things on the D Line in Boston. This makes me miss the T a lot. Last year on Halloween, I was on the T with someone who was dressed as Moses (on the other side of me was Sweeney Todd) and his crazy cat lady girlfriend. We got to Coolidge Corner and he said "Ah yes, Brookline. This is where all my people are." For those not familiar with the culture geography of Boston, Brookline is home to a lot of Jews. Amazing. This year's Halloween did not compare to riding the T with everyone in their redic costumes. Plus ten Boston. Plus ten.

This is friggin amazing. How did they even get all the furniture to stay down in the water?!

The Next 'The OC'?

I love Ikea. It's modern. It's cheap. It's Swedish. It has amazing food. I was available for the shooting of this movie, so why didn't they ask me to be in it?! Also, apparently this was entirely shot in the Burbank Ikea, which is the one I just happen to frequent. Call me next time, people of 'Ikea Heights.'

Pimpin All Over The World

Apparently, this is a new word that is sweeping the Japanese youth culture.

Obamu: (v.) To ignore inexpedient and inconvenient facts or realities, think “Yes we can, Yes we can,” and proceed with optimism using those facts as an inspiration (literally, as fuel). It is used to elicit success in a personal endeavor. One explanation holds that it is the opposite of kobamu. (æ‹’ã‚€, which means to refuse, reject, or oppose).

Flooding in a Subway Near You

Ok, we get it. The world is ending in 2012. But do you really need to make it look like a tidal wave is invading a subway tunnel, Sony Pictures? I guess you did. I mean it's pretty brilliant, but if I was in the bowels of the Brazilian subway and stumbled upon this on my daily commute, I might pee a little. But I mean ... well done.

I Should Go To West Hollywood More

A) This cake looks incredibly delicious, particularly the blue layer, for some reason.

B) I love that fact that when I saw this, I was going to post it on my friend's wall. Then I thought of pretty much 10 other people who would appreciate this cake as much as I do, so I decided to post it here instead.

C) This is the actual caption to this picture: "This cake has fanned the flames, if you will, of my inner struggle between Gay and Fat. And Fat is winning. Pride Parade Food Fight 2010: it's coming."

Chief Henry is Rolling in His Grave

Yes, you're seeing that correctly. It's a Saved By The Bell PORN. I have ... SO many thoughts on this ... but it just occurred to me that in one sense, a SBTB porn totally makes sense. Thank about it. The people who watched this show as kids, like us, are now older and can actually appreciate that this program was never meant to be an Emmy award winning show. Some might see it as, oh Kelly Kapowski is all grown up, etc. etc. So in some twisted way, I think this is a brilliant idea. Plus, this show has always had a cult following, so I think people will just want to see this parody for all its ridiculousness. Exhibit A: The trailer.

My question is, will the following people be in this episode: Stacey Carosi, Mr. Carosi/voice of Pumbaa, or hot Jeff, Kelly's ex BF? And will they ever bring up Tori? Will Hot Sundae every come back? Are they going to incorporate Buddy Bands somehow? Guess I'll just have to find out for myself.

Pursuit of Happyness

AGREED.

(917): half the nation just spent an hour watching a balloon fly around. we are officially the dumbest fucking country.

Sad, yet true. But for the record, I want to say I knew something was up as soon as I saw that stupid balloon. This family is everything that's wrong with America.

Cash for Cupcakes

Ok, so if you haven't read my previous post on the "Big Top Cupcake," you should read it before you read this. Maybe that item won't seem as crazy after you've seen this (My thanks again to bestweekever.tv!).

Ladies and Gentlemen, I introduce to you the
$25,000 cupcake car!!
[THIS IS A REAL THING]

Straight from the NEIMAN-MARCUS CATALOG:

The Neiman Marcus provided description reads like bakery fan fiction. Slip this on and take a read:

Put on your matching hat, slip under the muffin top of your Cupcake Car, and let the world figure itself out for awhile. Get (or give) the sheer, joyful chaos of a gift that is mind-blowing, triple-dog-dare, double-infinity forever cool. Make the kids or grandkids literally squeal with joy. Bring it to work and buzz the breakroom. Crash parades! Putter about the ‘hood. Ever had a crowd of kids chasing after you just for the crazy gleeful heck of it? (No worries, the top speed is a comfy-safe 7 mph.) What’s it made of? A 24-volt electric motor, a heavy-duty battery, sheet metal, wire, fabric, wood…and mad genius. Launched at Burning ManSM as a cooperative art car project, the Cupcake Car sprang from the fevered mind of Bay Area artist Lisa Pongrace and her less-rules-more-laughs posse of artists and techno geeks. Yours will be tricked out with your favorite topping, so start thinking flavors.

Mine will be flavored like money with a faint hint of “What college loans?”

Good thing I saw this before I made my Christmas list. I was just going to ask for every single item in the Sky Mall catalog. But this? This is WAY better.

I can't tell you how many times i've thought this.

KTBSPA

If you know anything about me, you know that there is a soft spot in my heart for the Backstreet Boys. I have been a loyal fan since probably circa 1998, and will openly admit my love for them to anyone. That being said, this week was *supposed* to be one of the most epic weeks in my life, as their new CD, "This Is Us," came out on Tuesday. My plan, along with my fellow BSB fanfriend Dina, was to celebrate their new cd by making an entire week out of it. Seeing as how I'm unemployed, the plan was to have a listening party on Tuesday, try to get standby tickets to their performance on Ellen on Wednesday, skip their appearance on Conan on Thursday to go to their CD SIGNING AT THE HARD ROCK, then finally wrap it up with the mini concert at Jimmy Kimmel on Friday.

Please note the past tense used. Sometimes, things just don't go as planned.

On Monday, this came up on their Twitter: BRIAN LITTRELL DIAGNOSED WITH SWINE FLU ~ Full Article Here (Updated) http://bit.ly/fz3JR

Of course, this is HORRIBLE, and I felt incredibly bad for him, especially after he posted a video saying how sorry he was, yet he looked completely miserable. My second thought was CRAP. They cancelled their appearances in NY, including the cd signing, which was NOT a good sign for us here in LA. Then we got news that they canceled not only Ellen, but the cd signing here as well. I cannot even express how disappointed I was about the latter being canceled, as - I shit you not- the Backstreet Boys are the number people on my "Who I'd Like to Meet" list (Right under that is Lauren Graham, which I accomplished, so as soon as I meet BSB, I seriously can die happy). But of course, I just wanted Brian to not have swine flu anymore, because, I mean ... that sucks.

Anyways, their performances on Conan and Jimmy Kimmel were still on, so at least we got to go to those, which were AMAZING (I TOUCHED AJ'S CHEST FOR APPROX 10 SECONDS).

^kinda blurry cell phone pic from 2nd row @ jimmy kimmel, as we weren't allow to bring real cameras :\ ^

Shameless promotion, here are a few of my favorite songs from the new cd (out now!)

This Is Us

If you're still reading this, kudos, because there are probs A LOT of people who think this obsession is ridiculous (and even more so because it's the 'Backstreet Boys'), but they can suck it. I don't want to hear any comments like "Are they still around?" "What happened to Kevin?" "NSYNC IS BETTER" because I will ban you from my blog. FO REALZ.

BACKSTREET'S BACK, ALRIGHT. AND NOT GOING ANYWHERE.

Barn Chic

How awesome is this barn runway set up for the Chanel show?? One day I will be with you, Paris Fashion Week.
